Qatar and Egypt have demonstrated a renewed dedication to enhancing their bilateral ties, with a strong focus on expanding cooperation in economic, investment, and labor sectors. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting took place in Cairo, coinciding with the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
Both nations have expressed satisfaction with the significant progress in their economic relationship, noting an 80 percent increase in trade between Qatar and Egypt in 2025. This impressive growth underscores the robust partnership that has been developing between the two countries. Notably, Qatari investments in Egypt continue to expand, with initiatives like the sustainable aviation fuel production project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone marking a significant milestone in their collaborative efforts.
In addition to economic matters, the discussions also encompassed labor and consular cooperation. Regional issues were on the agenda as well, with both sides emphasizing the importance of reducing tensions and maintaining stability. They reiterated the necessity of ongoing coordination concerning Gaza and expressed their support for diplomatic avenues as a means to resolve regional disputes peacefully.
Furthermore, Qatar and Egypt underscored the critical importance of ensuring maritime security and safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. By doing so, they aim to protect international trade routes and contribute to regional stability, highlighting the broader strategic significance of their partnership.
